WHAT CAN I GIVE GOD

See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” EPHESIANS 5: 15-16

The things we can give to God can be separated out into 3 categories:

Our Finances

Our Talents

Our Time

OUR FINANCES God has given us a measure of treasure or what we call our finances. These are placed in our care. Jesus said in Matthew 6: 21 NKJV that “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Your heart follows your money. I have heard it said on more than one occasion, that ”to see what you value or treasure, just take a look at your check book’s ledger.”

If you have invested your money in a certain stock or mutual fund, you will follow the performance of those because you want them to do well. When we invest in the kingdom of God, we will be interested in the benefits or outcomes of that and how well they do. Where we put our treasure our heart follows.

OUR TALENTS God has blessed every single believer and every single person with talent. We have natural talents as well as gifts from the Holy Spirit. As a new Christian, I wanted to do everything. Along the way of trying to volunteer everywhere, what I found out was I was bad at a lot of things. However, I also found I was good at a few things too. I would have never known which was which if I had not tried them all. What God gives us, He wants us to use to serve Him and those He loves which is ALL people. And you know if you have served in any measure and capacity, that the blessing to come is yours.

OUR TIME God gives each one of us 1,440 minutes every day. There have been many days I have asked God to add more to that figure so I could get all I needed to get done completed. God gives us the 1,440 to invest. We have to recharge our bodies so some of those minutes will be invested in sleep. But, the remaining minutes, are our responsibility of how we will use and invest them.

WE ARE TO GIVE ALL OF THESE TO GOD. Ephesians 2: 8-9 NKJV says “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” BECAUSE WE HAVE BEEN SAVED BY GOD, WE SHOULD WANT TO SERVE HIM.

“God gives us things to share. God does not give us things to hold. The love from God that we have to give is unlike worldly treasures. Worldly treasure value is measured by how much we can accumulate, hold, and possess. The love that God has given us to share with ALL others becomes more valuable when we give it away to others.”
