SAFE AT HOME
When I was a kid, we played a bunch of games which included that time tested one of tag. In the game there was on who was “it” and that person was out to give that it to someone else. There was one place of refuge that if you could make it to you were safe and it was home base etc. You were safe there.
We all need that place of refuge in our lives. We all want a safe place to escape to from the anxieties and fears of life. It begins as children. When we were young and scared of something new etc. we often hid behind our safe place which was our parents. We would cling to them holding their leg etc. hiding behind them being shielded from whatever scared us. As we grew into adulthood, we chose different things to be our safe at home place.
In the Psalms, David talks of taking refuge in God. He refers to God as his refuge, as his rock and a strong fortress to save him….Psalm 31: 1-2
We know the Lord is faithful and we “should” put our trust in Him. We are to be strong and take heart because our hope is in the Lord.
When Jesus was slandered, publicly humiliated, He prayed the words form this psalm, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” LUKE 23: 46. Jesus takes refuge in the Father.
WHEN WE ARE SURROUNDED BY EVIL, WE CAN RUN TO THE LORD. WE KNOW THAT, ULTIMATELY, EVIL WILL NOT HAVE THE LAST WORD.
“As believers, we are God’s children! He is our home base and our safe place! Cling to Father God for He is our place of refuge and is our impenetrable rock solid fortress!”
