NAME RECOGNITION
Then those who feared the LORD spoke to one another, and the LORD listened and heard them; so a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear the Lord and who meditate on His name.” MALACHI 3: 16
Name recognition means a couple of things for our purposes here. In the marketing world, name recognition is key in establishing a dominant brand name. When the name Amazon is mentioned for example, we do not immediately think of the river but of the huge business owned by the world’s first trillionaire. I was taught, in sales and customer and client service, to use the person’s name in conversation as often as you could. It engages the person to you in a more personal way.
Have you ever been out in a crowd somewhere and someone is trying to get your attention. After many attempts, they may yell your name at you which does get your attention and you respond. When you say someone’s name, you will get a response. It is the same way with JESUS. Say His name, He will respond. He is paying attention to what we speak.
Jesus’ name is used all the time and sadly a lot of times in profane ways. Why do they use His name? Because, even the unbeliever, and the evil one who distracts them, knows consciously and subconsciously that there is power in the name of Jesus.
We need to remember this when we worship. The Lord is listening. When we start a conversation with someone and the name Jesus is brought up, Jesus is right there eavesdropping if you will, listening in. He wants to know what we say. It says so in the verse today. Those fearing the Lord spoke to one another and the Lord listened and heard them.
Listen and heard intimates that they listened with much more care. God listens and notices as well. He rewards our faithfulness. GALATIANS 6: 9 says not to get…” tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.” NLT God takes notice of all we have done. We sometimes get discouraged that no one notices or acknowledges us. We want that Atta boy or that pat on the back. Remember though, the Lord is watching!!
The Lord keeps good records and He is keeping a record. One day He will reward us for every sacrificial act. Every gift we gave and everything we did in the name of Jesus will be acknowledged and rewarded.
MAYBE WE HAVE NOT GOTTEN THE THANKS WE DESERVE, BUT THE LORD KNOWS WHAT YOU DO FOR HIM!!!
“You may not get the respect you deserve, but dare to succeed anyway.”
