MY IDENTITY TIED TO GOD'S FAMILY

You are members of God’s very own family . . . and you belong in God’s household with every other Christian(Ephesians 2:19 TLB).

In many cases, we are identified by our relationships. I can be identified as a grandson, son, husband, brother, team member, co-worker, mortgage banker, etc. I am all of those things. Those help identify who I am .

We know who we are as we are related to others.

When a relationship ends, many people have trouble figuring out who they are as in the breakup of a divorce or the loss of a loved one to death.

You could be laid off from your job that you tied your identity to, after these events, it is sometimes tough to get clarity with our identity. God wants us to get our identity from a relationship that never ends…..our relationship with HIS family.

The Bible says we are members of God’s very own family. It does not matter what family you have had in the past or if you have a family at all. Our identity does not come from that.

OUR RELATIONSHIP COMES FROM OUR RELATIONSHIOP WITH GOD’S FAMILY.

Our physical family was just a channel to get us into God’s family. God used our parents to bring us into this world. His goal was to put you in HIS family.

Spiritual family is more important than physical family. Physical families do not last forever. People grow up and move away. They get divorced and they die.

OUR SPIRITUAL FAMILY WILL LAST FOREVER AND WHEN OUR IDENTITY IS BUILT UPON THAT IT LASTS FOREVER.

“Family, for the followers of Jesus, comes not from a shared ancestry, but from a shared faith.”
