LIFE PURPOSE
“God has made everything beautiful for its own time” (Ecclesiastes 3:11 NLT).
Oh!! Those two mysterious words ( life purpose) of hope are perplexing. For most, we seek the key to happiness in life from whatever mysteries these 2 words can unlock for each and every one of us. Life is full of contrasts. We are usually either on a mountain top or in a valley or on our way to one of the other. Successes and failures complement each other along the way. I believe there are lyrics that say, “some got to win some, some go to lose some.”
Depending where you live, your weather falls into 4 “equal” seasons. To me winter seems like 9 months, summer like 2, Spring like 3 weeks, and my favorite, of course Fall, lasts about one week. But actually there are 4 seasons. In the span of our life there will be many different seasons consisting of both good and bad times.
Most are familiar with Ecclesiastes 3: 1-8, “For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven. A time to be born and a time to die. A time to plant and a time to harvest. A time to kill and a time to heal. A time to tear down and a time to build up. A time to cry and a time to laugh. A time to grieve and a time to dance. A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones. A time to embrace and a time to turn away. A time to search and a time to quit searching. A time to keep and a time to throw away. A time to tear and a time to mend. A time to be quiet and a time to speak. A time to love and a time to hate. A time for war and a time for peace” (NLT).
All our seasons of life are so beautifully written and expressed here in these verses. We go through a lot of differing seasons in life. All sunshine and no rain makes for a desert. If we follow God’s will for us seeking to live our life the way God wants us to, then you will see that ALL of these experiences can and will have purpose in our lives and add value to that life.
We often think that the only time we are in God’s will is when we are at church or having our quiet time. We can be in His will at all times. We can be in His will when we are mowing the lawn or cleaning up our house. We can be right in His will moving to new location or staying right where we are.
There is a song with lyrics that say “Everything is Beautiful, in its own way.” I believe I know the sentiment the lyricist had but not every is beautiful. Cancer, war, and child abuse are not beautiful at all. God says it in the verse today that He made everything beautiful for its own time. God is saying He can take even the bad things, and in the proper season, turn them around and use them for good the way He intended and to fit His purpose and plan.
YOU MAY BE GOING THRU A TOUGH SEASON RIGHT NOW. YOUR FINANCES ARE KAPUT. YOUR HEALTH HAS BEGUN TO FAIL YOU. A RELATIONSHIP HAS HIT ROCKY TIMES. THE FUTURE LOOKS BLEAK AND CLOUDY. WHAT DO WE DO? GIVE GOD ALL THE PIECES. HE WILL MAKE SOMETHING GREAT OUT OF IT IN HIS OWN TIME AND FOR HIS GLORY!!!
"God loves each of us as if there were only one of us” - Augustine
