Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. Matthew 14:25
To be dark is simply to be void of light. Even with perfect 20/20 vision, our vision at night in the dark is limited to non-existent. Have you ever been to Mammoth Cave in Kentucky? On one of the cave tours they stop and turn out all of the lights in the cave. You literally cannot see your hand in front of your face.
The 4th watch of the night would have been around between 3:00 and 6:00 a.m. They say it is darkest right before the dawn. The Sea of Galilee at this time would have been dark enough that the disciples would have been afraid of the form they saw moving towards them across the water. They thought it was a spirit of some kind. “And they cried out in fear.” MATT 14: 26
It was not a spirit. It was Jesus coming to help them as they battled the rough waves of the sea. This event happened to the disciples but there are lessons for us today as well. Jesus sees us CLEARLY in our darkness the SAME He does in our light. Our vision is limited by darkness, His is not!!
IF YOU FIND YOURSELF IN THE DARKEST OF PLACES, AND IT IS HARD TO SEE ANYTHING MUCH LESS JESUS,
THEN, DO NOT WORRY….HE SEES YOU AND ME IN OUR MOMENT OF NEED AND WILL COME AND COMFORT US/ME AND CALM OUR WATERS.
I WILL WALK WITH GOD IN THE DARK. IT IS BETTER THAN GOING IT ALONE IN THE LIGHT!!!
“When going through any storm in your life, Remember Who it is who Calms them.”
