I/WE BELONG TO THE CHURCH
So now you . . . are not visitors or strangers. Now you are citizens together with God’s holy people. You belong to God’s family” (Ephesians 2:19 ICB).
We are called to a belonging. Hebrews 2: 10 says God made all things and they are all for His glory. He wanted to have many children to share in the glory. We are not to be orphans. We are to be part of a family. God’s family is called the church. We are called to belong to the church.
The verse from Ephesians today says we are not visitors or strangers but citizens together as God’s holy people. We belong to God’s family.
The word for church in the Bible is Greek work ecclesia. That comes from the word kaleo which means “called.” Ecclesia literally is the group of people called by God.
So that means the church is NOT an event.
The church is NOT a building
The church is NOT something we go to
The church IS something we belong to
The church IS a relationship
Church is not a burden
Church is not a rule or requirement
CHURCH IS FAMILY!!!
We will only ever get to know God and his purpose for our life when we are in community with God’s family.
BELONGING TO THE CHURCH WILL BE ONE OF THE GREATEST BLESSSINGS AND SOURCES OF ENCOURAGEMENT IN OUR LIVES. WE DON’T WANT TO MISS OUT ON THAT!!!!!
“A home is full when all of the family members are present—including God!”
