I'M GOD'S LOAN...ER AND TRUST

Updated: May 19, 2020

“Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!” (Matthew 25:21 NIV).

We really do not own anything on this earth. Anything we think we possess stays here when we leave. God just loans us what we need while we are here. We are the trustee of God’s trust. A trust is an arrangement where the trustee holds property as its token owner for the good of the beneficiary. The world and all that is in it belong to the Lord; the earth and all who live in it are his” PSALM 24: 1

The first job God gave us humans was to take care of His stuff here on earth. It is still part of our purpose today. God has entrusted everything to us or placed it in trust with us and in our hands. Have you ever had anyone lend you something or let you stay at their home and say “use it like it’s yours?” I told my boss when I went to work for him that I would treat and protect his company, the company's money and assets, etc. like it was my very own.

You enjoy the benefits of something but not the headaches of owning it. We are stewards of a gift in each one of those instances.

Jesus referred to life as a trust. In the story of the talents the business owner evaluates each servant’s responsibility and rewards them accordingly. MATT. 25: 21 NIV says “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!”

At the end of life here on earth, we will be evaluated and rewarded according to how well you handled what God entrusted to you. Everything we do—even the simplest chores—has eternal implications.

Treat everything as at trust.

God promises 3 rewards in eternity:

1) AFFIRMATION: He will say “Good job! Well done!

2) PROMOTION: Be given greater responsibility in eternity: “I will put you in charge of many things.”

3) CELEBRATION: “Come and share your Master’s happiness.”

THERE WILL BE NO GREATER JOY, AND IT IS AVAILABLE TO EVERY FAITHFUL STEWARD OF GOD’S GIFTS.

“We are deeply in debt to God for everything we have, His payback plan it simply our faith.”
