GO INTO QUIET TIME WITH RIGHT ATTITUDE
Updated: Apr 5, 2020
The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7 NIV).
Daily quiet time is not a suggestion from me anymore. It is an absolute necessity. Block out whatever time best suits you but do it. It is necessary for spiritual growth. Where do you start after you have set the time for your quiet time! It starts with attitude!!
We have to go into this time with the right attitude. To God, it is the why we are doing something more than the what. God tells the prophet Samuel in today’s verse that he is looking inward to our hearts. We can do the right thing but with the wrong attitude.
Come into time with God with anticipation and eagerness. I really look forward to our time together each passing day.
Expect a good time of fellowship.
Expect a blessing from the encounter.
King David said “You, God, are my God, earnestly I see you.” PSALM 63: 1 NIV
Do not rush into God’s presence
Prepare your heart by being still before Him…letting the quietness clear away thoughts of the world. The prophet Habakkuk: “The Lord is in his holy temple; let all the earth be silent before him” (Habakkuk 2:20 NIV;
You are meeting with the Creator, the Maker of heaven and earth, the Redeemer of humanity, Decide before your quiet time that you will do anything and everything that God wants you to do. Jesus said, “Anyone who chooses to do the will of God will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own” (John 7:17 NIV).
“God has a job for you: spreading His love around. Get to Work!!!”
