Gano Baptist Church Clothing Ministry was begun by one of our ladies who saw the need to supply our neighbors with much needed clothing at a time when clothing costs for a family was at an all time high. Initially the ministry only accepted clothing and household items from church members. When others in the community found out that the church accepted used clothing and household items, others in the community donated to the program. Now the ministry is blessed by having many community donors. Donors may request a receipt for donations which can be used for a tax write-off.

 

The ministry accepts clothing and shoes for adults and children of all ages and sizes. Those items most needed, and which we never seem to have are socks in all sizes and good clean undergarments. Children’s clothing is always needed as are men’s work clothes and jeans.

 

The ministry is run by all volunteers. There are approximately 15 men and women who come together most Thursday mornings from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. to sort through donated items and prepare them for giveaway. Volunteers are made up of Gano church members and others in the community who work with Gano. In turn, they are able to help their church members who need

clothing items by shopping for them when needed.

 

There is a free clothing giveaway every other month on a Saturday from 10 a.m. until 12 noon. The goal of the Clothing Ministry is to serve anyone within our service area with gently used clothing, shoes and small household items free for the taking. The ladies and gentlemen who serve in this ministry do so to show the love of Jesus in a tangible way. Clothing is given away every other month on a Saturday morning from 10:00 am until noon. A light lunch is served. We pray that you will join us if you need clothing for yourself, your children or others in your family. All we ask is that you let us know who you are and for whom you are shopping so that we know how many we are serving.

November 23rd will be the last giveaway.  No more donations will be accepted after that.  We are encourage you to donate items to the AMEN House and volunteer time to help out that Clothing Closet.
